Why We Work in this Area
All humans deserve, desire, and cherish good health. When sickness comes, they all deserve the right to readily-available and competitive medical treatment. But sadly, this is not true for millions of people from the underprivileged and lower-income community, who neither have the financial means, nor the basic know-how about what steps to take when they face medical adversity.
Research has established that the poor are less entitled to public subsidies and are more likely to face financial shock due to out-of-pocket expenditures on health. In India, 65 percent of health expenditure is out-of-pocket, and such expenditures push some 57 million people into poverty each year. Also, some 2.4 million Indians die of treatable conditions every year, the worst situation among 136 nations studied for a report published in The Lancet.
What We are Doing
Our Life Support Project is for the medically ill, who are unable to pay for medical treatment of basic to life-threatening diseases / serious medical conditions and are somehow beyond the scope of government hospitals due to excessive delays and sometimes negligence. We serve people from economically weaker sections (EWS) and give special consideration to widows & abandoned women and their children.
On the preventive side, we conduct basic health check-ups, conduct health awareness seminars, family planning seminars, special seminars for women and children on personal health, nutrition, and hygiene in the community to foster healthy lifestyle choices to prevent illnesses.
Achievements
10 patients treated for various diseases.
7000 multivitamins for children and adults.
Successfully ran a COVID-CARE CENTRE during the 2nd wave of COVID-19.
More than 50 patients were given oxygen support and treatment.
Provided 300 COVID care kits to more than 20 villages in Haryana and UP.
Future Plans
We hope that by 2025, our Life Support Medical Assistance Fund will evolve into Life Support Clinic & Diagnostic Centre with the following facilities under one roof:
Basic Emergency Room (ER)
Pharmacy
Obstetrics and Gynaecology OPD
Internal Medicine OPD
Pediatrics OPD
Laboratory Services
Ambulance Services
X-rays and Ultrasound
OT for general deliveries
The above-mentioned facilities will be available at economical prices for the lower-income group with further discounted / free services for needy patients.
By 2035, we envision a 100-bedded multi-specialty tertiary care charitable hospital with all kinds of OTs, backed by a fully functional laboratory, 24 x 7 pharmacy, and a 24 x 7 blood bank.
The Hospital will have periodic satellite clinics in nearby villages, which will also serve as reference centers for treatment at Life Support Hospital.
