Education

We are taking humble steps in the direction of serving and building up the lives of underprivileged children. And education is the single biggest weapon to fight poverty from a developmental point of view!
Why We Work in this Area
According to government figures, there are 560 million illiterate people in India, out of which about 60 million are underprivileged children.
“22% of the entire population of India is considered to be very poor, which means that almost one-fourth of Indians cannot really even consider sending their children to school.”
“Data from the National Sample Survey Organization and the National Family Health Survey shows that the percentage of children completing primary school in India is only around 37%.”
“A study of 188 government-run primary schools in central and northern India revealed that 89% of the schools had no toilets, and 59% of the schools did not have clean drinking water.”
“Illiteracy is a curse on development,” says Dr. Anant Mishra. It is hard to understand whether issues like child labor and population growth are consequences of illiteracy or the other way round. Whatever may be the case, this is a vicious cycle, all interlinked, hence all-out war against one will disrupt the chain.”
What We are Doing
LTF currently runs a full-fledged educational institution called Life Tree Foundation School in Gurgaon, Haryana (in the National Capital Region of Delhi) which has taught more than 200 children so far. Its current strength is 110 children. The School will soon receive its accreditation from the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS). The School operates from a rented building in New Palam Vihar, Gurgaon.
